What is fluoridation?
Fluoride is the only chemical added to drinking water for the purpose of medication. It is added to prevent tooth decay. There are no benefits from ingesting fluoride. All benefits come from the application of fluoride directly to the teeth.
- In 2001, Elise B. Bassin listed a connection in her doctoral thesis between fluoride in tap water and bone cancer.
- Fluoride air pollution caused more damage claims to industry between 1957 and 1967 than all 20 nationally monitored air pollutants combined.
- Today, almost all toothpastes have fluoride and more than 200 million Americans have drinking water that contains the compound.
